The Holy Spirit and the Bride, Commentary on Revelation 22:17

There is a handwritten sermon note titled "The Holy Spirit and the Bride" written by Teacher Ahn Sahng-hong.

Among its contents, there is a sentence explaining "the Spirit and the bride."

"The Spirit and the bride refers to the state where the Spirit has become the bride, which is a statement referring to the state where the Word became flesh."

The WMSCOG claims that this sentence is content testifying about Mother Zahng Gil-jah. They interpret the phrase "the state where the Spirit has become the bride" as follows:

After Ahn Sang-hong died, he became the Spirit, and the Spirit manifested as the fleshly being Zahng Gil-jah Mother.

The WMSCOG are people who shamelessly mobilize anything they can piece together to justify "Mother God"—whether it's Bible verses or sermon notes.

We already know well about their numerous false examples, such as "I follow Mother," "The young child," and so on. Using just one sentence from the sermon note, "The Spirit and the Bride,"  by zooming in on it is a similar tactic.

However, if you examine the sermon note from the beginning as a whole, you will easily understand that their claims are utterly groundless.
First, I will show you the original sermon note. Then, you can check the literal English translation that follows.

English Translation of the Sermon Note

The Holy Spirit and the Bride

Rev 22:17) "The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!'"

Who does "the bride" refer to?

Rev 21:2) "the new Jerusalem prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband." And also,

Rev 21:9-10) "Come, I will show you the wife of the Lamb... He showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven."

Rev 19:7) "The wife of the Lamb has been made ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear. (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God's holy people.)"

2 Cor 11:2) "I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him."

There are many brides, so which bride is speaking?

'Church' means organization where people gather . That is, one single organization

1 Corinthians 12:12) "Just as a body, though one, has many parts..."

The state of being one body in the Spirit is called the bride.

Exodus 24:12) "the tablets of stone with the law and commandments I have written."

So "the Spirit and the bride" refers to the state where the Spirit has become the bride, which means the state where the Word became flesh.

Matt 1:18) "to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit."

John 1:14) "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us."

Analysis of Sermon Note Content

Let's look at the structure where Bible verses are connected in the early part of the sermon note.

From "the Spirit and the bride" (Rev 22:17), the bride is explained as the new Jerusalem dressed for her husband (Rev 21:2), the wife of the Lamb (Rev 21:9-10)

Then, it states that the fine linen worn by the Lamb's wife represents the righteous acts of the saints (Rev 19:7-8), thereby connecting the verses to mean that the wife of the Lamb is ultimately the saints.

To support this explanation, 2 Corinthians 11:2 is cited. It says all saints are pure virgins betrothed to Christ their husband.

Next, the commentary states, "There are many brides, so which bride is speaking? 'Church' means organization where people gather. That is, one single organization."

This clearly means the bride refers to the church. However, since there are many denominations today, it indicates that among them, one specific church (bride) will cry out to receive the water of life, as prophesied in Revelation 22:17.

Then, quoting 1 Corinthians 12:12, it explains that the church is a group gathered from many saints, but the head of the church is Christ, and the members who are one body with Christ are the saints. Ultimately, this means the Spirit becomes the head of the church, and the saints, as members, play the role of proclaiming the words of Christ who is the Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12:12 explains the church's organization and the role of each member. The church, made up of saints, is the saints becoming one body in the Spirit. It is the same principle as the bride being one body with Christ her husband.

Therefore, the voice of the church (bride) crying out to receive the water of life actually becomes the voice crying out on behalf of the Spirit. "The Spirit and the bride say" means the Spirit speaks through the bride.

Teacher Ahn Sang-hong expressed this as "the state where the Spirit has become the bride." Furthermore, "the state where the Word became flesh" has the same meaning. It concludes that when the Spirit appears in the flesh to proclaim God's word, this is called "the Word became flesh."

Evidence from Another Sermon Note

As we have seen so far, when you understand the entire sermon note as a whole, you cannot find any place in it that tries to reveal the existence of “God the Mother.”

Nevertheless, members who have been brainwashed inside the WMSCOG for a long time often cannot escape from the false testimony. For the sake of such people, I will show one more clear piece of evidence.

Among Ahn Sahng-hong’s handwritten sermon notes, there is one that directly explains the bride who appears in Revelation 22:17.

The title of this sermon note is “신부는 누구인가? (Who Is the Bride?)” Please pay attention to the two Bible passages marked in red.

Rev 22:17) The Holy Spirit and the Bride, Christ and the Church

Rev 14:1-5) The Lamb and the 144,000

In this sermon note, “Who Is the Bride?”, Ahn Sahng-hong first says, “The bride is the Church,” and then goes on to say that the 144,000 saints are the bride.

I could show you dozens of places in Teacher Ahn Sang-hong's handwritten sermon notes where he preached, "Woman means the church, and therefore the bride means the saints."

But I will stop here for this article. I know that no matter how much evidence I show in this writing, it will be useless to some people. Those who do not want to believe the truth will cling to even one ambiguous point, even after knowing 100 things are wrong.
